KDChi History

In the Spring of 1987, Cynthia Garza, Nellie Flores, Irene Montoya, and Melissa Montoya recognized the need at Texas Tech University for an organization that fostered an environment for the empowerment, professional development, and progression of women of all kinds, all while serving the community.

Due to the hard work and effort of the Founders and the Charter members, Kappa Delta Chi was recognized as an official organization at Texas Tech University on April 6, 1987.

Proud to be the first of its kind, KDChi has over 3,500 sisters, 55 chapters nationwide and growing.

National Philanthropy

American Cancer Society: For 100 years, the American Cancer Society (ACS) has worked relentlessly to save lives and create a world with less cancer and more birthdays. Together with millions of supporters worldwide, it helps people stay well, helps people get well, works on finding cures, and fights back against cancer. A strong mechanism for prevention is awareness and a great deal of what we do with the ACS is helping spread the word about preventable causes of cancer through nationwide events such as Relay for Life. For more information regarding the ACS, visit the national organization website at: www.cancer.org

Local Philanthropy

Comet Cupboard: The Comet Cupboard is a food pantry whose primary mission is to provide necessary food and personal care items to members of the UT Dallas community.

Academics

Kappa Delta Chi emphasizes the importance of our sisters' academic achievements. As sisters, we create a support group to make sure we are setting our Standards high. We complete at least ten study hours per week to ensure we are keeping track of our academic deadlines. Our chapter is also proud to maintain our 100% graduation rate.
